When it comes to moving, the buddy teams have plenty of protips in their toolkits. But, disassembling a laz-e-boy (or any reclining lounge chair) doesn't need to remain a trade secret. This is a job that requires no specialized tools. Here's what you do:

Step 1

Find the opening behind the chair where the backrest joins the base of the chair.

Step 2

Carefully wiggle your hands inside the backrest - be cautious, sometimes the mechanized guts in these chairs are sharp!

Step 3

Find the clasps on either side of the backrest, gently unhinge them and the backrest will separate from the base of the chair.

Ta, da! One of your most hefty pieces of furniture can now be carried in two separate parts. You can prevent the stress of maneuvering it around tight corners and through stairwells in one piece. Not to mention, this new compact version of your chair will fit snugly in your moving truck and save plenty of space.
